Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is a program that provides free books to children from birth until their fifth birthday. The program was established in 1995 by Dolly Parton as a way to promote literacy and a love of reading among children. The program has now spread to many communities throughout the United States, including Whidbey Island, Washington.

Whidbey Island is a beautiful and unique community located in the Puget Sound region of Washington State. The island is home to a diverse population, including families with young children who are eager to provide their children with the best start in life. The Imagination Library program on Whidbey Island is an excellent resource for these families, as it provides free books to children and helps to promote a lifelong love of reading.

The Imagination Library program on Whidbey Island is run by the Whidbey Community Foundation, a local organization dedicated to improving the lives of residents on Whidbey Island. The program is funded by donations from individuals and businesses on the island, as well as grants from the Whidbey Island-based organizations. These funds are used to purchase books and cover the cost of shipping the books directly to children's homes.

Each month, children who are enrolled in the program receive a new, age-appropriate book in the mail. The books are carefully selected to ensure that they are engaging and educational for children, and that they encourage a love of reading. The program is available to all children on Whidbey Island, regardless of their family's income or background.

The Imagination Library program on Whidbey Island is an excellent example of the power of community-based initiatives to promote literacy and educational opportunities for children. By providing free books the program is helping to build a strong foundation for the future success of children on the island. The program has already had a significant impact on the community, and it is sure to continue to do so for many years to come.

Whidbey Community Foundation (WCF) is excited to share that since becoming an affiliate for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library over 870 children on Whidbey have been enrolled!
